No matter how hard Huawei fans try to convince everyone around and themselves, first of all, that the US sanctions of the Chinese company are only beneficial and that thanks to them it will be able to finally build its own full-cycle production, in fact, it is not so. Today we can see that the very restrictions that the Americans imposed on Huawei hit it very hard, depriving it of the ability to produce its own processors, use Google services and even update its smartphones normally. Therefore, in order to somehow keep their face, the Chinese promised that they would update the branded devices not to Android 11, access to which they were denied, but immediately to Harmony OS. True, then they quickly changed their minds and changed their shoes, which is rather good than bad.
Huawei will still release Android 11 for its smartphones, despite the company’s previous announcement that they will immediately update to Harmony OS. This is indicated by the content of the certification documentation for the European version of Huawei Mate 40, whose release will take place in the near future.
Updating Huawei Smartphones
It turns out that the developers of the Chinese company are already working on the translation of EMUI 11, designed on the basis of last year’s Android 10, to Android 11. This gives reason to believe that the update will be released not only for the new product but also for all old smartphones that rely on the new OS version.
Despite the fact that Huawei is still banned from using the licensed version of Android, the company can use the source code of Android 11 to update its devices. Unlike the licensed assembly, the “stock”, as it is also called, does not have Google services preinstalled. , the license for which is purchased separately.
Huawei could not bother with the creation of EMUI 11 based on Android 10, but immediately build the firmware based on the new OS version, but for this, the company would have to wait for its release. As a result, the announcement of the update would have taken place not in September, but at best in December-January, and the Chinese, apparently, should not have allowed such delays.
Will Huawei Get Android 11
To be honest, in my opinion, the news of Huawei’s plans to release EMUI 11 based on Android 11 looks like an attempt by the company to probe the ground. That is, Huawei sociologists probably studied the mood among users, when it became known that they were not getting a normal update, they realized that they risk losing their entire loyal audience, and now they decided to throw the bait with an alleged denial. I admit that if people now start wailing with joy, Huawei will transfer EMUI 11 to Android 11, and if not, it will strengthen on the flank of Harmony OS.
In my opinion, it’s better to release Android 11 after all than to tear yourself up for the Harmony OS. After all, whatever one may say, Android is a familiar and long-known platform for users, for which all Huawei devices were originally sharpened.
If the company leaves it and is exclusively engaged in the development of Harmony OS, the crane in the sky may not be caught, but letting the titmouse out of hand – there is nothing to do. Therefore, Huawei, if you are reading me, I ask you: do not run ahead of the locomotive but give users at least the feeling that you do not give a damn about them. It will pay off handsomely.
